Anna Marie Staggs Sharp
Mrs. Sharp was born in the fall of 1935 in Bracken County, Kentucky. Anna was 87 years old when she went to life eternal on March 15, 2023. She is the daughter of George Kelly and Alberta E. Staggs.
After her graduation from Bracken County High School, she worked for Cincinnati Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. While working, she met and married Ronald L. Sharp in 1956. They had four daughters. Anna said that “Raising my girls was my most important job. I enjoyed every minute. I loved all of those little kisses, hugs and squeezes.” Anna was a very creative mom and enjoyed such arts and craft hobbies as drawing, painting, making doll dresses, doll furniture and homemade play dough for her girls. She was also an involved grandmother, enjoying taking care of her grandchildren when new babies came into the family and when her girls needed some extra help with their children.
Anna worked for a time at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in the cafeteria and housekeeping departments before she studied for and received her certification as a nurse’s aide. In her and her husband’s retirement, they opened and ran S&S Used Furniture in Prestonville. They loved going to auctions and flea markets together to support their business and the community.
Mrs. Sharp served the Lord with all her heart. She was raised in the church and was a Sunday School teacher, church librarian, Chaplin at racetracks and Gideon’s Auxiliary member. She and her husband were also founding members and volunteer workers in a variety of positions in the Prestonville Baptist Mission. Anna’s message…”To family and friends, I love you but most of all God loves you. Keep God first in your life. Love, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Wife, Friend, Sister and relative. – Anna Marie Staggs Sharp”
Mrs. Anna M. Sharp was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, her husband and other beloved family members. She leaves behind her four daughters, Anna Elliott, Charlotte Warren, Linda Potts and Denia Stoops along with their husbands. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Anna requested that donations be made to Gideon’s International.
Until we meet again Mom, until we meet again.
