IN LOVING MEMORY

BENEDICT J. "DICK" THOMPSON

Benedict J. "Dick" Thompson, 83, passed away Monday, April 19, 2010 at the Christopher East Healthcare Center in Louisville, KY.

Originally from Bardstown, KY., and after service in the U.S. Army during World War II. He lived in the Louisville, KY., area for many years and was employed in the Landscaping and Masonry Business. He and his wife Mary Lou (Worland) later moved to Carrollton, KY., where he became a gentalman farmer, his lifelong dream, until his retirement moving back to Louisville, to be near his family. He became a member of St. Bernadette Parish.

All who met him knew him as an honest and honorable man who believed a handshake was as good as one's word, and who loved the land, leaving each place he lived much better than he found it.

Beside his wife of 63 years, he leaves behind his grateful and loving children; Wayne (Terry), Cindy Turner, Karen DeGaris (Steve), Rick, Suzanne Thompson (Tom Elliott), Alicia Steuerle (Mark) all of Louisville, KY., eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, one great granddaughter, three sisters; Marie Dugan of Bardstown, KY., Betty Curran of Phoenix, AZ., and Mary Baker Baland of Beaumont, CA., along with numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews and many faithful friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 with the Rev. Kavungal Davy at the St. John Catholic Church, 507 Fifth St., Carrollton, KY 41008. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. - Noon - Saturday - May 8, 2010 at the St. John Catholic Church.

Cremation was chosen by the family with the ashes to be laid to rest at the St. John Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Little Sisters Of The Poor, 15 Audubon Plaza Drive, Louisville, KY 40217 or in care of the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., Carrollton, KY 41008.

The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
