Billy Russell Newsome

Billy Russell Newsome, 81,  born on August 3, 1943, in Owen County, Kentucky, left this world on August 21, 2024, in Carrollton, Kentucky. He was a cherished family member, a dedicated servant of his community, and a proud American who served in the United States Army.

Billy's professional journey led him to the Celanese Corporation in Florence, Kentucky, where he made lasting contributions throughout his career. His commitment to excellence was matched only by his devotion to his family and friends, with whom he shared many memories filled with joy. He relished the moments spent together, particularly during lively cookouts that reflected his vibrant spirit and love for life.

A graduate of Carroll County High School, Billy was particularly passionate about his interests, notably being an avid fan of Kentucky UK Basketball. His enthusiasm for the sport was a testament to his deep-rooted connection to the community and state he loved. Additionally, his unwavering dedication to Sanders Baptist Church was a significant aspect of his life, reinforcing his faith and values.

Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Symual Newsome, and stepdaughter Gloria Maxwell. He also leaves behind his stepson Garnett Marksberry, along with his cherished grandchildren Jerimiah and Daniel Crawford, and great-grandchildren Nate, Brandon, Ethan, and Brooklyn Crawford, who will all deeply miss his warmth and guidance.

He now joins his parents, Samuel B. Newsome and Josephine McKinney Newsome, as well as his sisters Mae Avery, Emma Louise Newsome, and Alma Smith, and his brother Samuel E. Newsome, who have passed before him.

A visitation to honor Billy will take place on August 28, 2024, at Sanders Baptist Church, located at 291 McDaniel Street in Sanders, Kentucky, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. This will be followed by a memorial service at the same location from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
