Buell Shields

Buell S. Shields, 79, of Ghent, KY, died on Thursday morning, November 28, 2013 at the Gallatin Health Care Center in Warsaw, KY.

He was born on April 29, 1934 in Owen County, KY, the son of the late Benjamin Sleet Shields and Jessie Mae (Barr) Shields. He had farmed all his life and was a retired truck driver for M & T Chemical Company in Carrollton after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Ghent Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel.

He will be missed by his wife of 61 years to whom he married on March 15, 1952, Virginia Lee (Owen) Shields of Ghent, KY, two sons, Randy Owen Shields and Barry Lee Shields, both of Ghent, KY, a daughter, Denise Gay Culver of Carrollton, KY, a brother, Louis Shields of Madison, IN, a sister, Carolyn O. Morris of Baton Rouge, LA, nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, Jessie Mae Barr Shields Purcell.

Funeral Services were on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Brennan officiating the service. Visitation was on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. Burial was in the Ghent Masonic Cemetery in Ghent, KY.

Arrangements were entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.

Visitation

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Brennan officiating the service.
