Captain Daniel Ray Popp, 64, of Worthville, KY., died on Tuesday evening, July 21, 2009 at 6:26 P.M. at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on July 9, 1945 in Florence, KY., the son of the late George William Popp and Marian Faye Holt Popp of Carrollton, KY. He was a retired Towboat Captain for Exel Marine and a member of the English Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother, his wife; Dottie D. Popp of Worthville, KY., a daughter; Yolonda Smith of Turners Station, KY., two brothers; George William Popp II. of Latonia, KY., and Anthony Wayne Popp of Worthville, KY., two sisters; Nancy Rose Brown of Whitesburg, KY., and Sandy Thompson of Carrollton, KY., four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, a brother; Richard Popp and one great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be officiated by Rev. Jason Owenby and Military Services at the Graveside will be conducted by members of the American Legion Post 41 Honor Guard.
Serving as pallbearers will be:Merle Smith, Brannon Brock, Bradley Horner, George Popp, Billy Thompson and Shane Popp. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Yolonda Smith, Jeff Aman, Tony Popp,Rust Tingler, Kristian Brock, Larry Sculley, Billy Joe Stewart and Joe Leslie Stewart.
