C.W. Courtney, 77, of Carrollton, KY., died on Thursday morning, October 7, 2010 at his residence in Carrollton, KY.
He was born on April 21, 1933 in Carrollton, KY., the son of the late James R. and Lula Mae Cain Courtney. He worker for many years for Louisville Paving Company as a Blacktop Machine Operator and then he retired in 1982 from the Cleancoal Plant near Ghent, KY., as an operator. C.W. served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He will be missed by his wife of 57 years; Dorothy Courtney, a daughter; Donna Spence of Campbellsburg, KY., three sons; C.W. Courtney, Jr. of Carrollton, KY., Ernie Courtney of Turners Station, KY., and Ronnie Courtney of Carrollton, KY., his step-mother; Ethel Courtney of Norwalk, OH., a sister; Dolly Barnes of Norwalk, OH., three brothers; James Raymond Courtney, Jr. of Carrollton, KY., Don Cain of Colorado Springs, CO., and Ed Courtney of California. Six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral was at 11:00 A.M. - Monday - October 11, 2010 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. Graveside Services were at 2:00 P.M. - Monday - October 11, 2010 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, KY. The Rev. Matt Lipe officiated the services.
