Cytha Spenneberg

Cytha Rosamond Swango Spenneberg, 98, of Carrollton, KY., died on Wednesday evening, August 24, 2011 at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.

She was born on June 22, 1913 in Carrollton, Carroll County, KY., the daughter of the late John Eli and Ella Tommie Hayes Swango. She graduated from Carrollton High School with the class of 1931. She was active in the band and choir during high school.

On November 24, 1934 she married Raymond Lee Spenneberg. They were married 50 years before his death on January 3, 1985.

Mrs. Spenneberg was a retired bank teller from the former Kentucky State Bank in Carrollton. She also worked for many years at the formal Driskell Drug Store in Carrollton. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton. She had a beautiful unique alto voice and sang in the church chorus.

Cytha leaves behind two son's, Ray Thoma and his wife Martha Spenneberg of Carrollton, KY., and John William and his wife Tina Spenneberg also of Carrollton, KY., four grandsons, David Lee, John Robert, Michael Claude Spenneberg all of Carrollton, KY., and Steven Ray Spenneberg of San Diego, CA., six great grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Spenneberg was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond Lee Spenneberg who died on January 3, 1985, a daughter, Bette Sue Calhoun and a son, Carroll Lee.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of Carrollton with Dr. Chris White officiating the service. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Sunday evening at the church. Burial will follow the church service at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

Arrangements are entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
