Daniel Joseph "Danny" Hewitt

Daniel Joseph “Danny” Hewitt, age 76, passed this life and entered into his heavenly home on March 30, 2023 with his wife and children by his side.  To us, he was Super Man.  He battled kidney cancer and won, then he entered and finished this fight with Frontotemporal Dementia.  Danny was born in Carrollton, Carroll County, KY on July 2, 1946 to Stanley W. and Mary Etta Hudgins Hewitt.  He was a dedicated member of the Carrollton Wesleyan Church. 

Danny started his career working for Grover Young when he was twelve years old.  Then he went on to work for Kroger in the meat department.  He was the head butcher for the meat department at his retirement having served Kroger and the community for 54 years.  In his down time, he loved the sun and being outdoors.  He loved fishing and raising African Violets in his younger years.  He took great pride in his skills of growing and taking care of his “Thuja Trees” in his yard, amongst his red buds and other flowers.  Danny also played the piano and loved playing for his children and grandchildren before they left the house.  He enjoyed crocheting, creating blankets, pillows, doilies and other items throughout the years.  After he retired, he would crochet lap blankets for nursing homes in our community and surrounding counties.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Wanda J. Clifton Hewitt, his daughters; Jennifer Hewitt of Ghent, KY, Malisa Domaschko (Rob) of Walton, KY, Teresa Davis of Milton, KY and Kathy Mefford of Ghent, KY, his sisters; Norma Martin of Carrollton, KY, Ruth Proctor of Carrollton, KY and Stella Banks (Steve) of Vevay, IN, his brothers; David Hewitt of Vevay, IN and Gene Hewitt (Sharon) of Taylorsville, KY, nine grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Stanley J. Hewitt and Claudie B. Hewitt and a granddaughter; Katherine Mefford.
