Darlene Dafoe, age 70, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Carrollton, Carroll County, KY, on April 24, 2024. She was born on October 15, 1953, in Jeffersonville, Clark County, IN.
Darlene dedicated her life to helping others as a special needs assistant at Cedar Lake Lodge in La Grange and previously at Queen Creek High School in Arizona for over 20 years. Her compassion and dedication to her work touched the lives of many students and colleagues.
In addition to her successful career, Darlene found joy in simple pleasures. She had a passion for painting, going on car rides to explore the beauty of the world around her, and playing solitaire in her leisure time.
She is survived by her loving daughters Niki Shields (companion Michael Mickel) of Louisville, KY, and Lori Howard (husband Parker) of Carrollton, KY. Darlene was a cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren: Tyler Grant, Alexander Layton (Rachel Russell), Kelly (Tyler) Tuttle, Jasmine Simmons, Ethan Howard, Kaileah Howard, Ean Simmons, Haley Mickel, and Aiden Mickel. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.
Darlene is reunited in eternity with her parents Melvin Ward and Agnes Mann Ward, her husband, Dennis Dafoe and her brother Robert Ward.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 27th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM followed by the Funeral Service at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home located at 809 Highland Ave in Carrollton, KY.
Darlene's kindness and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace knowing she made a difference in the lives of so many.
