David Scott Kemper, age 72, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 27, 2023, in his hometown of Carrollton, Kentucky. He was born on September 1, 1951, in Carrollton at the family home to his loving parents, the late William Scott "Bill" Kemper and Norma Jane Dunn Kemper.
David led a fascinating life characterized by hard work and dedication. He embarked on a fulfilling career as a truck driver for various companies including KY Container and Kemper Construction. With a strong work ethic and an unwavering commitment to his profession, David earned the respect of his colleagues and became well-known within the industry.
In addition to his successful career, David cherished the time he spent with his family. He will always be remembered for the special bond he shared with his favorite daughter Norma Lee Ann "Annie" "Sweet Pea" (Roy) Stafford and his beloved grandson Jacob Lane Stafford. His presence will be deeply missed in their lives, but they take solace in knowing that they were privileged to have him as part of their family.
Beyond the confines of work and family life, David had several hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He found solace in casting lines while fishing, honing his aim through shooting guns, and embarking on scenic tours that allowed him to marvel at the beauty of the world around him. These hobbies served as an escape from everyday challenges and provided a perfect opportunity for David to appreciate the simple pleasures in life.
In recognition of his commitment to serving his country, David proudly dedicated a portion of his life to the United States Army. His military service exemplified courage, loyalty, and selflessness - qualities that continued to define him long after he left active duty.
He was a former member of the Carrollton Masonic Lodge #134 F & AM and the Scottish Rite.
Those who knew David will remember him as a kind-hearted individual who always extended a helping hand to those in need. His generosity knew no bounds, and he was known to go out of his way to assist friends and strangers alike. Whether it was lending a listening ear or providing a comforting presence, David's compassionate nature endeared him to all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
David Scott Kemper is survived by his loving daughter Norma Lee Ann "Annie" "Sweet Pea" (Roy) Stafford, his adoring grandson Jacob Lane Stafford, all of Ghent, KY, and the numerous friends and extended family members who were touched by his presence.
Visitation services will be held on January 2, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Family Worship Center located at 2520 KY-227 in Carrollton, Kentucky. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Family Worship Center. The burial will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.
David Scott Kemper was preceded in death by his parents , his wife Debra Lynn Ingram Kemper, and his brother Paul Kemper. Their memory will forever reside in the hearts of those who loved them.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
