Dona Rae Wells, age 93, of Carrollton, Carroll County, Kentucky, was born Dona Rae Marshall on September 28, 1930, in Sanders, Carroll County, Kentucky, and peacefully passed away on July 20, 2024, in Warsaw, Gallatin County, Kentucky. She was a loving daughter of Benjamin Martin Marshall and Essica Meadows Marshall.
Dona will be remembered for her dedicated service as a Physician's Assistant at Dr. Williams and Dr. Martin's office in Carrollton for many years. Her commitment to healthcare touched the lives of many in the community.
Throughout her life, Dona was actively involved in various pursuits. She proudly served on the Carroll County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for an extended period and was a member of the Jordan Baptist Church. Dona was very family-oriented and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She always enjoyed planning gatherings of family and friends with great food.
On the funnier side of Dona, when her children were younger and needed a ride to school, she always used that time as a good time in the car to have conversations with them. Dona was known to have a heavy foot while driving, and once hit and killed chickens leaving the eggs all over the windshield, making her have to turn on the windshield wipers and the heat from outside would fry the eggs instantly on the windshield impairing her driving. As far as her sports experiences, she always enjoyed golfing and got the nickname "Dona Lopez" by her friends.
Dona's memory will be cherished by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie (Steve) Abbott of Cincinnati, OH; two sons, David Cull of Carrollton, KY, and Jeff (Debbie) Cull of Carrollton, KY; a sister, Judy (Larry) Keith of Sanders, KY; a brother, Robert (Sue) Marshall of Louisville, KY. Additionally, she leaves behind four grandchildren: Jeff (Andrea) Cull, Brittany Bollen, Ryan Abbott, and Brandon (Jessica) Cull; as well as four great-grandchildren: Piper Bollen, Layla, Harper, and Wells Cull.
Dona was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband George Cull in 1966; her second husband Paul Wells in 1984; sisters Dortha Parker , Jean Schirmer , Eula Robertson , and Joyce Boggs; and brothers Benjamin Richard "Dick" Marshall and Charles William "Charlie Bill" Marshall.
