Donald C. Grobmyer, 86, a resident of Cameo Woods in Boca Raton, Fla., passed away peacefully at home on July 4, 2015. Donald was born on May 1, 1929, in Carrollton, Ky., an only child of Gus and Louise Grobmyer. Donald graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1951. He served his country with the U.S. Navy, and upon his completion of his military service, he attended NYU and received his MBA.
He married the former Mary White Henry, who preceded him in death on Jan. 19, 2005.
Donald worked for many years with the First National Bank of Cincinnati and later for the Citizens Fidelity of Louisville. He then opened and operated his own accounting firm in Cincinnati until his retirement to Boca Raton. A man of great faith, Don was a communicant of St. Jude Catholic Church in Boca Raton, where he served on the finance committee and the advisory council for a number of years.
Surviving Donald are his sons, Mark and Joseph, both of Florida, and his beloved Bijon Frisee Blue. Also surviving are many loving family members and friends, in particalar, John Grobmyer of Dayton, Ohio, lifelong friend Frederick Miller of Boca Raton, and Jerry Nicklas of Pompano Beach. A special thank you to Jason Joseph and to the hospice staff of Trustbridge Health for the wonderful care that they provided to Don.
