Donald Mead

Donald G. "Don" Mead, 90, of Carrollton, KY, died on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Baptist Health Louisville in Louisville, KY.

He was born on December 1, 1924 in Owosso, Shiawassee County MI, the son of the late Clarence A. Mead and Ida B. Jahnke Mead. He came to Carrollton in 1977 during the expansion at the Dow Corning Plant . He retired as a Chemist from the Dow Corning Chemical Company in Carrollton, KY. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton, where he had also served as a deacon.

He had served his country during World War II., in the United States Army Air Service Group.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Ann Wagoner Mead of Carrollton, KY, his daughter, Lisa Mead of Louisville, KY, formerly of Carrollton, KY, two grandchildren, Don Rathburn and Kari Fleming, and four great grandchildren, Matthew Fleming, Rayn Fleming, Luke Fleming and Connor Rathburn. Two nieces also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Kathy Rathburn, a brother, Kenneth Mead and a sister, Doris Marker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Arden Courts Activity Department in care of the funeral home.

Please note, due to floral allergies, the family has requested no fresh cut floral pieces be sent to the funeral home.

Visitation

Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.

Funeral

Funeral Services will be on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Jay Montgomery officiating the service.

Interment

A Chapel Graveside Service will be at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Louisville Memorial Gardens East in Louisville, KY.
