Dorothy Mefford

Dorothy Hicks Mefford, 87, of Carrollton, KY, died on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.

She was born on December 14, 1930 in Carroll County, KY, the daughter of the late Prentice Hicks and Ella Lucas Hicks.  On August 13, 1949 she married Wiley Thomas Mefford,  the love of her life to whom she shared 64 years of marriage with.  She was a homemaker and a farmer for most of her life and everyone that knew her considered her as a “Grandmother”.  She was a member of the Whites Run Baptist Church in Carrollton and had served as the church treasurer for over 40 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Rita Ann Wilson of Carrollton, KY, and a son, Danny Dale Mefford of Prospect, KY, three brothers, Chester Hicks of Covington, KY, James Hicks of Georgia, and Kenneth Hicks of Nashville, TN, nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wiley Thomas Mefford on January 10, 2014, a sister, Mary Aldridge and a brother, Raymond Hicks who died at six years of age.
