Phyllis Lynn Spurr, DO
Dr. Spurr, 53, of Flatwoods KY, formerly of Carrollton KY, died at Ashland Community Hospice on Saturday February 16, 2013, after a lengthy illness. Dr. Spurr was a veteran of the US Army and served in Germany for most of her enlisted time. She achieved the rank of sergeant and was a Russian Linguist Specialist. She was present when the Berlin Wall was demolished.
She graduated from Carroll County High School in 1977, graduated from NKU in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, biology, and psychology. She then graduated from Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009 with her doctorate degree and worked at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Eileen Rowelett Spurr Moore and Jerry Moore, two brothers Michael Spurr (Donna) and Archie Brian Spurr (Patti) and a sister Susan Spurr Clark. As well as a loving care-giver, Kimberly Martin of Flatwoods, Ky. She is also survived by four nephews and one niece, Benjamin Spurr (Heather) , Michael Spurr (Patricia), Stephen Spurr, and Tommy Spurr all of Carrollton, KY and Sara Spurr Frey (Matt) of New York. She is also survived by a step-niece Mary Elizabeth Yantz of Bedford, KY.
Also surviving are three uncles Gary Rowelett (Margaret Ann) and Dennis Rowelett of Madison, Indiana; and Tommy Spurr (Teresa) of Milton, KY and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Archie Spurr as well as her grandparents and an infant niece.
She loved to act in plays, loved to sing, dance, sew, read and travel. She loved and lived life to it's fullest every day. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial services were conducted at on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton, KY. Cremation was chosen by the family.

Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
