Edwin Duane "Dewey" Wainscott

Edwin Duane "Dewey" Wainscott, known as Dewey, age 62, of Carrollton, KY, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, in Carrollton.

He was born on July 1, 1962, in Carroll County, KY, he was the son of the late Charles B. Wainscott and Naomi Courtney Wainscott. Dewey had a long and dedicated career, working at the Carroll County Detention Center and the former Arvin Meritor. From the age of 13, he devoted much of his life to serving his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Carrollton, Westside, and Sanders Fire Departments. He also served as an EMT for the Trimble County Ambulance Service.

Dewey is survived by his son, Josh (Jess) Wainscott of Sanders, KY; his daughter, Miranda (Jonathan) Monroe of Campbellsburg, KY; his sister, Charlene (Mike) Terrell of Carrollton, KY; his five grandchildren: Lukas, Layne, Briar, Nora, and Jude; and his significant other, Rena Poland.

The funeral services will be on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at the Tandy Eckler Riley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gerald Wallace officiating the service. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.  The burial will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Sanders Volunteer Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
