Eleanor Mae Courtney, affectionately known as Mae, passed away on February 22, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on May 21, 1953, in Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana, Mae lived a life devoted to her family, touching the hearts of many along the way.
She was a 1971 graduate of Carroll County High School.
Mae is survived by her loving family that includes her daughter, Jennifer Stone of Carrollton, Kentucky, and her son, Joe (Jennifer) Courtney, also of Carrollton, her sister, Debbie Ramsey of Carrollton, and her brother, Lee Chism of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Mae cherished her eight grandchildren: Daniel Beach, Devin Dermon Dylan Dermon, Addyson Noble, Bryson Courtney, Trinity O'Banion, Allison Courtney, and Taylor Courtney, as well as her three great-grandchildren, Gabriel Beach, Axel Beach, and Raelynn Dornbusch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Walker and Joann Harmon Young.
Mae had a passion for watching the University of Kentucky Basketball team and enjoyed the thrill of Bingo. Above all, she treasured spending time with her grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will forever resonate in their hearts.
Visitation will be held at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton, Kentucky, on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location at 1:00 PM. The burial will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.
Eleanor Mae Courtney will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will continue to honor her legacy of love and kindness.
