Gary L. Ford, 64, of Carrollton, KY, died on Friday evening, December 13, 2013 in Louisville, KY.
He was born on May 31, 1949 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, the son of the late Stanley Lindsay Ford and Helen Esther (House) Ford. He was a 1967 graduate of Carroll County High School, he later went on to attend the University of Louisville. He had worked early in his life at the Parkview I.G.A. Grocery Store in Carrollton and retired from the Dow Corning Chemical Company in Carrollton from the maintenance dept. He had also worked at Toole and Rose Supply in Carrollton as a delivery driver.
He was a member of the Carrollton Christian Church were he had also served as a deacon. He was a member of the Carrollton Masonic Lodge #134 F & AM. He was in the Sons of the American Legion Post #41 in Carrollton. Gary was very involved with the Community Food Pantry in Carrollton and he was also active with Project Comfort in Carrollton. Gary had been on many mission trips over the years, traveling all over the world.
He is survived by a niece, Brandy Douglas of Madison, IN, five great nieces, Shelby and Shalee Owen, Lindsay Douglas, Amber Douglas and Kyleen Douglas Cross, a great great nephew, Joseph Dylan Cross all of Madison, IN, his uncle Ulysses Ford of Carrollton, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marsha D. Ford - Konkle on December 19, 2010.
A Celebration Of Hope and Life Service was on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at the Carrollton Christian Church with the Rev. Melvin LeCompte officiating the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Carrollton Christian Church, St. John Food Pantry, Hosparus, American Cancer Society or Kosair Children's Hospital. Envelopes may be mailed to the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home at 809 Highland Ave., Carrollton, KY 41008.
