George Marsh

George Harrison Marsh, 84, of Carrollton, KY., died on Saturday morning, April 4, 2009 at his residence in Carrollton, KY.

He was born on July 27, 1924 in Gallatin County, KY., the son of the late Andrew and Rhetta "Bond" Marsh. He was a retired director of food distribution out of Frankfort, KY. He was involved for twenty years with the Carrollton Fire and Police Department and he was a former car sales manager for twelve years.

His memberships include the First Baptist Church of Carrollton, the Carrollton Masonic Lodge #134 and the Carrollton American Legion Post #41.

George served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He will be missed by his wife; Betty "Dutsch" Marsh of Carrollton, a daughter; Elaine (Jim) Stephenson of Carrollton, a son; Darrell G.. (Alice) Marsh also of Carrollton, a sister; Flora Bell Breeck of Carrollton, a brother; James Marsh also of Carrollton, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.

Preceding him in death was his parents and three brothers; Curtley, Harold and Eddie Marsh.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Carrollton with the Rev. Chris White officiating the service.

Military Gravesisde services at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

Pallbearers were Gary Kinman, Louis Dusch, Wendell Kinman, Jim Stephenson, Jason Stephenson, Shawn Stephenson, Harrison Marsh, Levi Stephenson and Calib Stephenson. Honorary Pallbearers will be George C. Marsh, Danny Marsh, Gary Marsh, James (Jimbo) Marsh, Terry Breeck and Josh McIntyre.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Gifts were given to the First Baptist Church of Carrollton.

Arrangements were entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
