George William Popp| Sr.

March 5, 1920 — October 15, 2005

George William Popp, Sr., 85, of Carrollton, KY., died on Saturday afternoon at the Carroll County Hospital in Carrollton.

He was born in Sulphur, KY., the son of the late Avery and Jenny Kelly Popp. George was retired from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers at Markland Locks and Dam, after his retirement he went to work for General Butler State Resort Park in Carrollton for 15 years until his retirement again. He served his country during W.W.II in the U.S. Army serving with the T-5 Division in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. George was a member of the English Baptist Church and the V.F.W. Post 6095 in Latonia, KY.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marian Fay Holt Popp, other surviors include daughters; Sandra F. Thompson of Worthville, KY., and Nancy R. Brown of Whitesburg, KY., sons; Daniel R. Popp of Worthville, KY., George William Popp, Sr.,of Latonia, KY., Richard F. Popp of Augusta, GA., and Anthony W. Popp of Worthville, KY., sisters; Bertice Drugan of Ashland, OH., and Marilyn Lumpkin of National City, CA., 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Florence, Ettie and Dorothy, brothers; Forest, Alford, Charles and Frankie and several other brothers.

The Rev. Travis Laney will officiate the funeral service on tuesday at the funeral home.

The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral is in charge of the arrangements.
