Harry Douglas “Doug” Ball, 74, of Carrollton, KY, died on Monday, July 17, 2017 at his residence in Carrollton, KY.

He was born on July 25, 1942 in Elsmere, Kenton County, KY, the son of the late William Richard Ball and Hattie Francis Huffman Ball. He was a graduate of the former Carrollton High School and the Delmar College in Corpus Christi, TX. Early in his life he had enlisted in the United States Navy and had served approximately 30 years of active and inactive service to his country. While serving his country he received the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Medal and several Good Conduct Awards. After his retirement from active duty he went to work for Atofina Chemical Company in Carrollton which is now known as PMC Organometallix. He was a member of the Carrollton American Legion Post #41 in Carrollton.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Ball of Carrollton, KY, two sons, Troy Douglas Ball of Dayton , OH, and Jay Christopher Ball of Burlington, KY, a daughter, Dana Jeannette Smith of Independence, KY, two sisters, Olive Rae Vanausdal of Connersville, IN, and Nellie Mae Hayden of Port Royal, KY, and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Donald, David and Michael Ball, and three sisters, Evelyn Ball, Betty Owens and Wilanna Popp.

Arrangements are entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
