Herman Von Burns, 89, of Carrollton, Kentucky, born on May 26, 1935, in Oneida, Clay County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 27 2024, in Clarksville, Clark County, Indiana. He was a dedicated tobacco farmer for several years, contributing to the agricultural heritage of his beloved Kentucky. Herman's life intertwined with the land he worked, and his commitment to farming was a testament to his strong work ethic and connection to roots.
In addition to his career, Herman had a deep passion for woodworking and artistic painting. His creative pursuits allowed him to express his vision and artistry, enriching not only his own life but also the lives of those who had the privilege of experiencing his work.
Herman will be lovingly remembered by his family. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret E. (Harold) Barnes of Columbus, IN; his brother, Edward Burns of Carrollton, KY; two sisters, Betty J. Hearn of Sanders, KY, and Opal Robbins of Carrollton, KY; as well as his grandson, Michael, and great-grandson, Cameron. The love he shared with his family was the foundation of his life, providing warmth and support throughout the years.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mathis Yora Burns, and his siblings: a brother, John Burns, and two sisters, Sudie Mefford and Irene Jones. Their memories will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his surviving family.
Visitation services will be held at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home located at 809 Highland Ave, Carrollton, KY, on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A memorial service will follow on September 7, 2024, starting at 2:00 PM, at the same location. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Herman at these times, honoring the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind.
