Jasper, Herman Clifford "Cliff"Born 27 October 1923. He was 88 years old. Passed away on March 11 2012.Cliff Jasper was a well known native of Carrollton KY. He is a veteran of WWII and was a member of Company B of the 157th Infantry. Wounded on the Anzio beaches, he was hospitalized and later recovered in Rome where hecontinued to serve in the 33rd General Hospital. Cliff was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals forhis service in WWII.After the war Cliff returned to his native Carrollton, where he and his brother Robert soon took over their father's grocery business on 6th and Hawkins. In 1973 he was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Wendell H. Ford. He retired in 1988, but continued to be active in his community. He served as president and later Chairman of the Board of Carrollton Federal Savings and Loan and served on the Board of Directors at Kentucky State Bank.Cliff is a devout Catholic and life-long member of St. John's Catholic Church in Carrollton.He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Juanita Jasper, parents Herman George and Marie Jasper(Framme),sisters Loretta McConville, Marguerite Mefford and brother Robert Jasper. He is survived by his brother, theReverend Louis Jasper, daughters Carla Jasper (Bill Thompson) of Allen, Tx, Sherry Jasper and grandson Grant Jasper of Louisville and his son Mark Jasper (Cal Smith) of Amersfoort, The Netherlands.His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon, Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church, 5th Street,Carrollton, KY with burrial to follow at the Church's cemetery. Visitation will be at 05:00-08:00 pm atTandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, 809 Highland Ave., Carrollton, KY.
