Hershel Smith

Hershel H. Smith, 76, of Ghent, KY, died on Friday, March 27, 2015 at his residence in Ghent, KY.

He was born on January 10, 1939 in English Carroll County, KY, the son of the late Ralph Austin Smith and Nannie Rabourn Smith. He was retired from the former Arvin - Meritor Factory in Carrollton as a Heavy Vehicle Braking System Machine Operator. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Alma Jean Newsome Smith of Ghent, KY, a son, David Smith of Worthville, KY, two daughters, Linda Carol Franklin and Judy Ann Smith, both of Ghent, KY, four sisters, Anna Mildred Smith, Mary Evelyn Willis, Mable Catherine Proctor and Patsy Jean Tharp, all of Carrollton, KY, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James O. Smith and William E. Smith.

Funeral Services were on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Graham Reynolds officiating the service at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. Visitation was on Monday, March 30, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. Burial was in the Ghent Masonic Cemetery in Ghent, KY.
