Iva Perkins

Iva Lee Duncan Perkins, 93, of Carrollton, KY, died on Friday, September 9, 2022, at her home in Carrollton.

She was born on August 10, 1929, in Bedford, Trimble County, KY, the daughter of the late Robert A. Duncan and Fannie Lou Adams Duncan.  Iva grew up in log cabin with dirt floors, attended school until the seventh grade and dropped out, then went back to school to obtain her G.E.D., along with obtaining a L.P.N. License and a X-Ray Technician License.  During her teenage years she worked for the shoe factory in Madison, IN. After she obtained her licenses, she went to work for the Carroll County Memorial Hospital for 46 years as a L.P.N. and X-Ray Technician until her retirement.

Iva was an expert marksman with a rifle and was a better tractor driver than most men and could out work them also.  At the age of 82 she learned how to text family and friends.

Some of Iva greatest joys were serving her church, Cove Hill Baptist Church, where she was the church pianist for 31 years, a Sunday School Teacher, conducted countless Easter and Christmas Plays over many years.  Some of her favorite hobbies included crocheting, quilting, woodworking, gardening and canning her harvest.

Iva will be missed by her two daughters, Donelda Lee Green of Carrollton, KY, and Deborah Lynn Hoke of Louisville, KY, two sons, Dennis Layne (Candy) Perkins of Sanders, KY, and Danny L. (Jeannine) Perkins also of Carrollton, KY, her sister, Sylvia (John) Hanlon of Memphis, TN, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and four great- great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald B. Perkins on September 1, 1971, two sisters, Bernice Fay McCoy and Josie E. Kindoll, her son in-law, Dennis Green and two grandchildren.
