James Courtney| Jr.

James R. "Junior" Courtney, Jr., 82, of Carrollton, KY., died on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY.

He was born on December 17, 1928 in Carrollton, KY., the son of the late James R. and Lula Mae Cain Courtney. Mr. Courtney was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator for Craig's Constuction Company in Carrollton. He was also retired from the Carrollton Fire Dept. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton.

Mr. Courtney proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Courtney is survived by his son and daughter-in-law; James (Linda) Courtney of Bronston, KY., a Sister; Dolly Barnes of Norwalk, OH., Brothers; Don Cain of Colorado Springs, CO., and Ed Courtney of California. Two grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Martha Jean Courtney and one brother; C.W. Courtney, Sr.

Funeral Services were on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Carrollton with Dr. Chris White officiating the service.

Memorial Gifts may be given to the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY., in care of the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.

The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
