James Klingler

James B. "Jim" Klingler, 83, of Carrollton, KY., died on Tuesday morning, April 13, 2010 at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, KY.

He was born on May 2, 1926 in Savanna, Carroll County, IL., the son of the late John F. and Helen (Schneider) Klingler. Jim as most people knew him was a retired Plant Manager from the Dow Corning Carrrollton, KY., Plant, retiring in 1983.

He served his country in World War II., as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army as a B-29 Ring Control Gunner.

Jim was a former member of the Carrollton Rotary Club, he served on the Carrollton City Council from 1977-1981 and from 1984-1986. He was a member of the Carrollton Utilities Commission 1969-1971 and from 2006-2008. In 1990 he served as Interim Manager at the Carrollton Utilities.

He was a 1952 graduate of Iowa State University obtaining as B.S. - E.E., he also attended St. Ambrose College. He was a member of the Tau Beta Pi, Etta Kappa Nu, Pi Nu Epsilon and Phi Kappa Phi Fraternities.

He is survived by three daughters; Barbara Ervin of Bettendorf, IA., Patricia Marshall of Madison, IN., and Kathleen Harvey of Winchester, KY., a son; Dennis Bessenecker of Louisville, KY., twelve grandchildren sixteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Grace Klingler, a son; John James Klingler, a sister; Kathleen Hansen, three brothers; Herb, Jack and Ben Klingler and one grandson.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 with the Rev. Jeffery D. Pflug officiating at the Faith Lutheran Church, 3024 North Michigan Rd., Madison, IN., 47250. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M.- 11:00 A.M., Friday at the Faith Lutheran Church in Madison, IN..

Private Graveside Services will be held at the Hunters Bottom Lutheran Cemetery near Milton, KY.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Gifts may be given to the Faith Lutheran Church in care of the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.

The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
