James Leslie "Jake" McGuire, born on October 3, 1944, in New Castle, Henry County, Kentucky, passed away on November 24, 2024, in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. Jake had many talents and passions, leaving a legacy of hard work and love for family.
For several years, Jake dedicated himself to a rewarding career as a truck driver, most recently employed by Luhn & Oak Construction Company in Carrollton. His love for the open road was matched only by his dedication to his family, who were at the heart of his life. Beyond his professional life, he enjoyed farming, bush hogging, and the simple joys of fixing cars for many friends throughout the years. Jake was also known for his love of dancing, bringing joy to gatherings with his lively spirit.
Jake is survived by his beloved daughters, Barbara Deaton of Worthville, KY, Brenda McGuire (Wayne Aaron) of Carrollton, KY, Belinda McGuire (Patrick Booth) of Carrollton, KY, and Latasha Cutshaw of Carrollton, KY, as well as his sons, James Brandon (Melissa) McGuire of Ghent, KY and Edward Lee Dixon, Jr. He also leaves behind two sisters, Shirley Owen of Louisville, KY, and Wilma Johnson of Carrollton, KY, along with two brothers, Jerry McGuire of La Grange, KY, and David McGuire of Ghent, KY. Jake cherished his twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, each bringing him immense pride and joy.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents, James Chester McGuire and Louise Brown Frazier, and a brother, Ralph McGuire. The imprint he left on the hearts of those around him will undoubtedly endure.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, located at 809 Highland Ave, Carrollton, KY. The burial will take place in the Ghent Masonic Cemetery in Ghent, KY.
He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through the love he instilled in his family and friends.
