James Fred "Floogie" O'Neal, 80, died Friday evening at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, IN.
He was born in Carrollton, Carroll County, KY., the son of the late Fred and Pearl Ellis (Easterday) O'Neal. "Floogie" as most people knew him was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Carrollton having served as the Maintenance man and Custodian at the Post Office for over 30 years. He was a World War II. veteran having served his Country in the U.S. Army. His memberships include the American Postal Workers Union, Carrollton American Legion Post #41, he was a sixty four year member of the Browinski I.O.O.F. Lodge #64 in Carrollton, serving as Past Noble Grand and Past District Deputy Master. He was a also a member of the Carrollton Rebekah Lodge #60. In his spare time he was a volunteer for the Salvation Army.
Survivors include his wife; Nellie Mefford O'Neal, to whom he married on March 22, 1950, a daughter; Connie O'Neal Lichtenberg of Louisville, KY., and one son; Randy Lynn O'Neal of Carrollton, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; George Lewis and William Prentice O'Neal.
The Rev. Chris White will conduct Funeral Services on Monday afternoon at the Funeral Home Chapel.
The I.O.O.F. Lodge will conduct special services at 7:30 P.M. on Sunday evening, October, 1, 2006 at the Funeral Home.
In Lieu of Flowers Memorial Gifts are suggested to the Salvation Army.
The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
