James Scott Shields, 88,of Carrollton, KY., died on Monday morning, February 27, 2012 at his residence.
He was born on April 13, 1923 in Owen County, KY., the son of the late Joseph Lee and Ethel Mae Jones Shields. He was a retired Carpenter and Plasterer. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the former United Pentecostal Church in Carrollton.
He will be missed by his daughter, Jean Finney of Carrollton, KY., his son, Steven Shields of Carrollton, KY., a brother, R.C. Shields of Owenton, KY., six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Earline Stockdale Shields, a son, Jim Shields, a sister, Margaret Lewis and one great grandson.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Relevant Church in Carrollton, KY., with the Rev. E.D. Puckett and Rev. Ronald Tiller officiating the service. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Relevant Church in Carrollton, KY. Burial will be in the Bedford Cemetery in Bedford, KY.
The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
