John Alfred Day, 85, passed away on August 16, 2012 at his residence in Milton, Kentucky.
He was born on May 30, 1927 in Carrollton, Carroll County, Kentucky, the son of the late Emmett Day and Mamie Skirvin Day. He was retired from Ohio Valley Paving (OVA). He was in the Army National Guard.
He will be missed by his five sons, Jonathan Day, Madison, IN, Wesley Day, Milton, KY, Greg Day, Carrollton, KY, Mark Day, Milton, KY, Millard Blaine Day, Milton, KY., and by his two sisters, Mary C. Baker, Ghent, KY, and Evelyn Dermon, Ghent, KY and one brother, Emmett Russell Day, Brooksburg, IN. His faithful companion and friend Troye Phelps, Milton, KY, will also miss him. Three grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and wife, Maude Danner Day.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 20, 2012 from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Stewart and Rev. David Croucher officiating the service. Burial will take place at the English Cemetery in Carrollton, KY.
The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
