John D. Hancock, 91, of Carrollton, KY., died on Friday morning, August 26, 2011 at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
He was born on August 6, 1920 in Carroll County, KY., the son of the late Herbert L. Hancock and Anna Marie Obertate Hancock. Mr. Hancock was retired from Kentucky Utilities as a Meter Reader. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Milton, KY. He was a former member of the Carrollton Fire Dept and the American Legion Post #41 in Carrollton.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps. during World War II.
He is survived by his son, Herbert M. "Herbie" (Becky) Hancock of Carrollton, KY., his daughter Phyllis (Mike) M. Gruber of Carrollton, KY., and several grandchildren.
Mr. Hancock was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gladys Lee Martin "Mossie" Hancock on Janaury 12, 1997 and four sisters, Mary L. Wise, Clara & Carrie Hancock and Anna K. Stark.
Funeral Services were on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.
The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
