John Moorman

February 11, 1928 — March 18, 2014

John Meinrad Moorman, age 86, a lifelong resident of Carrollton, KY, died peacefully at Louisville Norton Hospital on March 18, 2014. He was born in Carrollton, KY on February 11, 1928 the son of the late Frank and Helen Framme Moorman.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Vivian Keith Rice Moorman; daughter - Krista (Jeff) Hunt of St. Loius, MO, sons - Kerry Moorman of Smith's Grove, KY, Keith (Leesa) Moorman of Lexington, KY, Kenny (Carla) Moorman of Lexington, KY, a sister - Frances Rue of Hamilton, OH. Grandchildren surviving are; Annabel Moorman of Boston, MA, Atticus Moorman of Colorado Springs, CO, Christopher Hunt of St. Louis, MO and Matthew Moorman of Lexington, KY. He was preceded in death by two brothers - Elmer Moorman and Maurice Moorman.

John was a fourth generation member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church. He served in the US Army from 1951 - 1953 during the Korean Conflict, was a former member of the Carrollton Kiwanis Club. John retired in 1993 after 51 years with the Kroger Company. He began his career as a bag boy and ending it as manager of the Carrollton Kroger store.

He will be remembered for his kind spirit and gentle ways and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday - March 22, 2014 at St. John The Evangelist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Memorial gifts may take the form of contributions to St. John Catholic Church Youth Group in care of Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Inc.
