Judy Kay Simmons, 77, of Carrollton, KY, died on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Norton Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, KY, with her daughter, Peggy at her side holding her hand.
She was born on May 19, 1944, at the family home in Gallatin County, KY, the daughter of the late Dilver Edward Forwood and Flora Mae Covington Edward. Judy had worked most of her life as a farm laborer and caretaker.
She was a member of the Ghent Baptist Church and enjoyed playing Bingo, spending time with her family especially with her pride and joy, her great granddaughter, Cleo Kay Simmons. She held a special place in her heart.
Judy is survived by her daughters, Peggy (Joe) Dickerson of Worthville, KY, and Mary (Tim) Dayton of Maryville, TN, two sons, Harry Mercer of Worthville, KY, and Paul Simmons of Carrollton, KY, a sister, Barbara Tipton of Warsaw, KY, a brother, James Forwood of Warsaw, KY, twelve grandchildren, Johnathan, Justin and Joseph Dickerson, II., Megan Hall, Emily and Jerry Simmons, Samantha Beach, Andrew, Austin, Jeremy, Cassie and Allison Mercer, eleven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas “Tommy” Simmons, a daughter, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Simmons, a son, Christopher “Chris” Simmons, a sister, Emma Lloyd and a brother, William Forwood.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
