June Carolyn Schirmer Darnold, 81, of Carrollton, KY, died on Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Providence Health Care of Gallatin in Warsaw, KY.
She was born June 7, 1934 in Ghent, Carroll County, KY, the daughter of the late Arthur Rocker Schirmer and Nana Lucille Vories Schirmer.
She was a 1952 graduate of Carroll County High School in Carrollton.
She was a Licensed Funeral Director and with her late husband James, had owned and operated Tandy-Eckler-Darnold Funeral Home in Carrollton up until his death in 1991. She had mostly recently worked as a Golf Pro in the Golf Shop at the General Butler State Park and Resort in Carrollton. Early in her life she had worked at the Teledyne - Wirz Tube Factory in Carrollton for 10 years.
June and her late husband Jim enjoyed going to yard sales, always looking for the bargains and antiques. She was an avid golfer when her health permitted her to. She enjoyed being a grandmother to her two grandchildren, Cameron and Rileigh. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton, where she really enjoyed going to her Sunday School Class.
She will be missed by her son, Jason (Stacie) Darnold of Worthville, KY, two sisters, Martha Jean Earl of Ghent, KY, Mary Lou Smith of Carrollton, KY, and two grandchildren, Cameron and Rileigh Darnold of Worthville, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Carlisle "Jim" Darnold on December 2, 1991, two sisters, Betty Hammer and Sara Louise Bohanon, and a brother, Stanley V. "Buster" Schirmer. In Lieu of flowers,
Memorial Gifts may be given to the First Baptist Church of Carrollton Youth Program in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
Visitation
Visitation will be on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 5:00 P.M.a�"8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Funeral
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Dr. Chris White officiating the service at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
