Lawson J. Adcock, 78, of Campbellsburg, KY., died on Wednesday morning, September 7, 2011 at the Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY.
He was born in Campbellsburg, Carroll County, KY., on May 12, 1933 the son of the late Lawson Henderson and Helen Louise Oak Adcock. He was a retired farmer and was also a retired Supervisor from M & T Chemical Company in Carrollton.
He was a long time member of the Cove Hill Baptist Church where he was a Deacon Emeritus, formerly served as Chairman of the Deacons, he was the former Treasurer for thirty five years of the church and he also served on the Cove Hill Baptist Church Building Fund.
He was a current and founding member of the Pioneer Power Tractor Club based in Carroll County, KY. In his spare time he enjoyed restoring and collecting antique machinery.
He was a founding member of the tobacco festival when he was involved with the F.F.A. many years ago.
He will be missed by his wife, Marcella Marcum Adcock, to whom he married on July 6, 1954, two daughters, Stella Elaine (husband-Jerry) Adcock Caudill of Fayetteville, N.C., and Diane Tyree (husband-Art) Adcock Tokar of Hillsboro, OH.,a brother, Virgil Warren Adcock, Sr. of Carrollton, KY., and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services were on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Cove Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Kindoll officiating the service. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton, KY.
In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Gifts are suggested to the Cove Hill Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
Arrangements are entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. - Friday - September 9, 2011 at the Cove Hill Baptist Church and from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. on Saturday morning at the Cove Hill Baptist Church.
