Leon J. Johnson, age 66, died Friday, April 21, 2017 at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born in Ghent, Carroll County, KY on January 3, 1951 to the late Elkanah and Eula Mae Shaw Johnson. Leon was a member of the Whites Run Baptist Church, was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel by former Gov. Brereton Jones and was formerly employed as a security guard at the former American Racing Co. in Warsaw, KY.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Lou (McGuire) Johnson, a daughter, Asia Coy of Carrollton, KY; three sisters, Jewell (James) Wolfe of Carrollton, KY, Barbara (Larry) Burkhardt of Milton, KY and Mildrene “Mickey” (Grant) Morris of Charlestown, IN; two brothers, Glenn (Vicky) Johnson of Sparta, KY and Jerry (Donna) Johnson of Carrollton, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Juanita White and Doris June Hylton; six brothers, Garvin Johnson, Winston Johnson, Kanah Paul “Johnnie” Johnson, Clayburn “Blackie” Johnson, Joel Johnson and Jimmy Johnson.
