Leona Eckler

Leona M. "Sallee" Eckler, 93, of Ghent, KY., died on Friday morning, May 1, 2009 at her residence in Ghent, KY.

She was born in Springfield, Washington County, KY., on June 25, 1915 the daughter of the late William and Gertrude V. Million Sallee. She retired in 1979 as a registered nurse, having owned and operated Carrollton Manor Nursing Home. She also had previously worked for the Carroll County Health Department for 12 years as a health nurse. She was a member of the Ghent Baptist Church, the Caby M. Froman Club and a the former Ghent Women's Club.

She is survived by her husband; Donald Wilmott Eckler, her daughter; Sandra Jean Ellis of Yasilanti, MI., a son; Donald Thomas Eckler of Florence, KY., a sister; Dorothy McClure of California, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her 1st husband; Dr. Paul E. Harper, a son; Ronald Paul Eckler, a sister; Myrtle Evelyn Schaub and two brothers; Charles Hilary and Barnette Sallee

Funeral Services were on Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Ghent Baptist Church with burial following the service at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Dry Ridge, KY.

5:00 - 8:00 P.M. - Sunday - May 3, 2009 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. Monday - May 4, 2009 from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the Ghent Baptist Church.
