Leonard Burns

July 6, 1921 — July 8, 2014

Newt was born in Sanders, Carroll County, Ky to Leonard Harmon and Sally Ruth Bruce Burns. He was a member of Ghent Baptist Church and Tadmor Lodge #108 F&AM in Warsaw, KY. He retired as Assistant Resident Engineer (1951-1985) for the Kentucky Department of Highways and was a WWII US Army Signal Corps veteran.

Survivors include his wife - Helen Louise Perkins Burns, Daughters - Sherry E. (Bill) Lindsay of Worthville, KY and Ladonna S. (Todd) Foreman of Louisville, KY, 3 grandchildren - Eric (Tonya) Lindsay of Owenton, KY, Jeana (Kevin Bartram)McGuire of Carrollton, KY and Leah (Todd) Guilford of Louisville, KY, 4 great grandchildren - Daniel S. Lindsay, Connor McGuire, Trenton McGuire and Raegan Guilford. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother - Kirtley Burns.

Funeral Services were held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. Graham Reynolds officiating the service. Burial was in the Ghent Masonic Cemetery in Ghent, KY.

Memorial gifts may take the form of contributions to the Ghent Baptist Church or Tadmor Lodge #108 F&AM in care of the funeral home.
