Mark Ransdell

August 17, 1954 — June 29, 2013

Mark Steven Ransdell, 59, of Carrollton, KY, passed away Saturday, June 29th in Louisville, KY, after a long illness. Mark was born on August 17, 1954 in Madison, Jefferson County, IN, the son of J.R. and Maydell (Greene) Ransdell who predeceased him. Mark was also predeceased by his younger brother, Larry Ransdell. Mark is survived by one brother, Chuck Ransdell of Cordova, TN and five sisters: Reba Welling of Williamsburg, Ohio; Sue Watson of Norfolk, VA; Barbara Lindsey of Marietta, GA; Joyce Egner of Morrow, Ohio; and Nancy Ransdell of Florence, KY and by many nephews and nieces.

Mark was a graduate of Carroll County High School, Lincoln Memorial University, Northern Kentucky University, and Jefferson Community College, where he received his LPN designation. He was a member of Alpha Lambda Zeta fraternity.

Mark's passion was caring for the elderly. He worked at several area nursing homes in Carroll, Owen, and Trimble counties as well as serving as the Director of the Carroll County Senior Center. He later assisted local seniors in starting an independent Senior Lunch Group that met Monday through Friday and provided friendship and a home-cooked lunch to any senior who wished to participate.

Mark was active in and held several offices within the Masonic Lodge, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (Lodge 64) and the Browinski Rebekahs, Lodge 60. He enjoyed his dogs, his friends, and antiquing.

He was a lifelong member of Carrollton Christian Church.

Mark will be interred in the Ghent Masonic Cemetery in Ghent, KY. Per Mark's wishes, there will be no memorial service.
