Mark Douglas Southworth, of Carrollton, KY, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, in Carrollton, KY,  at the age of 72. Born on June 13, 1951, in Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana, the son of the late Perry Lee Southworth and Catherine Morgan Southworth and his late stepmother, who raised him after his mother's early death, Dorothy Mae Bain Southworth. 

Mark's career path was one of dedication and hard work. Before his retirement as a Millwright from North American Stainless in Ghent, KY, he worked as a Truck Driver for Sullivan Trucking and also worked at M & T Chemical Company in Carrollton. His commitment to his work was admired by his colleagues and peers.

Outside of work, Mark had many hobbies and interests that brought joy to his life. In his earlier years, he had a passion for dirt track racing and delighted in taking his family along to watch him race. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and enjoyed following his favorite team on Raceday. Mark was also an enthusiastic reader who found delight in studying anything related to science. Sports played a significant role in his life as well, with the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals being his favorite teams to watch.

One of Mark's proudest accomplishments was graduating from Carroll County High School in 1969. It was through this educational journey that he laid the foundation for a successful future.

Mark will be remembered with love by his wife of Carrollton, KY Jo Ann Taylor Southworth. Together they walked hand-in-hand through the journey of life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion within his family. His two sons Richard (Jenny) Southworth of Carrollton, KY, and Carl (Christy) Southworth of Springboro, OH carry on their father's resilience and strength. His daughter Bessie (Mike) Howard of Carrollton, KY remembers her father fondly as a source of guidance and wisdom.

In addition to his immediate family members are several step-children who were fortunate to have known Mark. a stepson, Andrew Beard of Carrollton, KY,  and step-daughters, Miranda (Michael) Smith of Carrollton, KY, and Brandi (David) Hensley of Pennsylvania, and their families will cherish the memories they made with him forever.

Mark's presence in this world was much appreciated by his siblings. Perry (Eloise) Southworth of Florida and Bonnie (Richard) Campbell of Carrollton, KY. 

Sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren brought immense joy to Mark's life. He adored these young ones and loved sharing precious moments with them. Mark also leaves behind three nephews and a niece who were close to his heart.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, leaving behind cherished memories of their time together.

Mark Douglas Southworth will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a true friend. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will live on through the cherished memories he has left behind.
