Martha Elizabeth May

Martha Elizabeth May, 97, of Carrollton, KY, passed away on Sunday evening, May 7, 2023, at Signature Healthcare of Carrollton.

She was born on October 25, 1925, in Bedford, Trimble County, KY, the daughter of the late Jesse James May and Nellie Mae May. Martha loved to cook and had previously worked as a Cook for Welch’s Riverside Restaurant in Carrollton. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Martha will be missed by her three daughters, Diana Tingle of Carrollton, KY; Elizabeth Jo Sanders of Carrollton, KY; and Diane Rachelle Lyons of Union, KY; a son, Larry (Carol) Hay-den of Madison, IN; three sisters, Esther Schultz of Valley Station, KY; Mickey McDowell and Millie Wiet; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herbert Lee Hayden; three daughters, Brenda Joyce Hayden, Nellie Carol Hayden, and Rebecca Ward; a son, James Lee Hayden; two sisters, Norma Presley and Mary; and four brothers, Cecil May, Lawrence May, Otis May, and JW May.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
