Mary Ann Craig, age 88, of Carrollton, Kentucky, died peacefully at home with her husband by her side on May 23, 2023. She was born on December 22, 1934, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Garner Licklider and Della Mefford. She moved to Carrollton at an early age and graduated from Carrollton High School.Mary Ann worked as a clerk in a local drug store, in the offices of the Charlestown, Indiana, V.A.G. Plant, and then as an owner and partner of Craig's, Inc.On October 24, 1953, she married Clarence "Duper" Craig, her husband of nearly 70 years. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton, using her beautiful alto voice in their choir for more than four decades and helping for years in their nursery program. Mary Ann was a past member of the Carrollton Younger Women's Club and participated in the dance kick line at their Carrollton Follies. She loved God, her family, music, boating, traveling, and looking out her back window at the birds and the Ohio River. She was a very good cook and enjoyed hosting her family for holiday meals.Survivors include her husband, Clarence "Duper" Craig of Carrollton, KY; her daughters Kathy (David) Mefford of Carrollton, KY and Karen (Paul) Ogle of Georgetown, KY; her son Kevin Craig of Carrollton, KY; grandchildren Lauren (Michael) Sauls of Carrollton, KY; Jordan (Bethany) Mefford of Lexington, KY; Caitlin (William) Bodzenski of Batavia, OH; Evan (Makena) Mefford of Carrollton, KY; Ashton Ogle, Trey Ogle and Layne Ogle of Georgetown, KY; and Case Craig of Carrollton, KY; great-grandchildren Brandon Sauls, Parker Sauls, and Campbell Sauls of Carrollton, KY; Maris Mefford and Maddox Mefford of Lexington, KY; Oaklin Bodzenski of Batavia, OH; sister in law Wanda Licklider of Carrollton, KY; as well as several nieces and nephews and the devoted caregivers who helped her stay in her home until her death.She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Licklider.In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the First Baptist Church of Carrollton in the care of Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
