Mary Jane “Janie” Ehalt Wilson, age 94, departed this life on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Signature Healthcare of Carrollton. She was born in New Albany, Floyd County, IN on November 6, 1929, to Cleophas F. “Bud” and Rosalie Recktenwald Ehalt. Robert A. “Bob” Wilson, Sr., Janie’s husband, who was 93 at his death, passed away on February 3, 2022, also at Signature Healthcare of Carrollton. He was born in Wheatley, Owen County, KY to Roy B. and Mildred Scott Riley Wilson. Janie and Bob were married on July 18, 1951 and had been married 70 years and nine months at his death.
Mourning their deaths are three children: Robert A. “Bobbo” (Diane Stockdale) Wilson, Jr. and Mark Randal “Randy” (Teresa Thompson) Wilson both of Carrollton, KY and Beverly Ann (Alan) Harsin of Carrollton, KY. There are four grandchildren and four great grandchildren surviving as well. Bob is also survived by a sister, Gypsy Oak of Floyds Knobs, IN.
Janie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob and a sister, Helen Frances Courtney.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a sister; Julia Raisor and a brother; James P. Wilson.
Janie and Bob were both active for over 65 years in their business, Wilson-Reed Builders and later Wilson Builders, Inc. in Carrollton. Janie was an active member of St. John Catholic Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Carroll County Homemakers. Bob was the carpenter/builder and Janie served as bookkeeper. Bob was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the American Legion Post 41 Carrollton.
Services for both will be held at Noon, Saturday, April 27, 2024 at St. John Catholic Church with burial of their ashes in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. until Noon at the church.
Memorial gifts may take the form of contributions to: St. John Catholic Church or the Carroll County Food Pantry in care of the funeral home.
