A member of the Women's Army Corps during World War II, Mrs. Livesay was stationed at Ashford General Hospital, now The Greenbrier Hotel. While on duty there, she met her husband who was recuperating from combat injuries.

Once her children were grown, Mrs. Livesay worked for the Public Libraries of Kentucky as a bookmobile librarian, an assistant librarian, and the head librarian. During her tenure, a new library was built for Carroll County.

In 1992, Mrs. Livesay moved to Surfside Beach, South Carolina, where she and her family had vacationed since 1958. Here she spent time with her children, her grandchildren, and her faithful dog, Mo.

Mrs. Livesay was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend Paul Livesay, and their son, Christopher Mays Livesay. She is survived by her daughter Lynn Ann Livesay of Fayetteville, North Carolina; her son, Gary Livesay and his wife, Lynn, of Surfside Beach, South Carolina; her son, Ty Livesay and his wife, Vickie, of Conway, South Carolina; and her grandchildren, Evan Livesay of Charleston, South Carolina; Lydia Livesay of Surfside Beach, South Carolina; Will Livesay and Wes Livesay of Madison, Indiana. Her sister, Anna Elizabeth Mays Wiest and husband, Chester, of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, and nearly forty nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania and Michigan also remain.
