Mary Geneva Shoots-Smith, 80, of Campbellsburg, KY., formerly of North Vernon, IN., died on Thursday afternoon, June 28, 2012 at the Green Valley Health and Rehab. Center in Carrollton. She was born on September 22, 1931 in Henry County, KY., the daughter of the late John Penn, SR. and Elizabeth Barley Penn - Neville. She had worked for I.T.T. Industries in North Vernon, IN., and Arvin Industries in Columbus, IN. She had been a Foster Grandparent for the Jennings County Schools in North Vernon, IN. She was a former member of the English Baptist Church. She was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2021 Ladies Aux. in North Vernon. In her spare time she enjoyed Bingo. She will be missed by her daughter, Ramona Lee (Doug) Leach of North Vernon, IN., her son, Vernon Woodrow Shoots of North Vernon, IN., a sister, Alene (Walter) Proctor of Carrollton, KY., a brother, John (Donna) Penn of Carrollton, KY., a grandson, J.D. (Betty) Powell of Gulfport, MS, two great grandchildren, Andrew and Jordan Powell of Gulfport, MS., a sister-in-law, Brenda Penn of Campbellsburg, KY., along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marion Woodrow "Woody" Shoots in 1968, two sisters, Roberta Deppe and Edena Clark, a brother, James William "Jim" Penn. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Knox officiating the service. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. Burial will be in the English Cemetery in Carrollton, KY
