Melissa Ann "Missy" Burke, born on October 5, 1962, in Carrollton, Carroll County, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday evening, September 26, 2024, in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. She was a beloved daughter, mother, and friend, who touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness.
Missy's professional journey included dedicated service as an Administrative Specialist, from which she retired after many years with the Commonwealth of Kentucky. A proud graduate of Carroll County High School, her educational foundation prepared her for a life of commitment and service.
Family was at the heart of everything Missy did. She cherished her father, James "Jimmy" Mosgrove of Carrollton, KY, and held a deep bond with her daughter and son-in-law, Caitlyn and Jacob Clark of Eminence, KY. She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her future granddaughter, Blakeley Layne Clark, due in February 2025. Missy also treasured her special friends, Robbin Powell and Dana Courtney, and was a devoted companion to her beloved fur baby, Hazel. She is also survived by several cousins who held a special place in her heart.
Throughout her life, Missy was known for her vibrant interests and passions. An avid fan of the University of Kentucky, she wore her blue and white with pride. She found joy in listening to Barry Manilow, shopping, and spending time at the beach. These hobbies brought her happiness and will be remembered fondly by those who shared in her love for life.
Missy is preceded in death by her mother, Mary B. Oak Mosgrove, who passed on September 9, 2020, and her husband, Walter Ray Burke, who left this world on January 9, 1998.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation, which will take place on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, located at 809 Highland Ave, Carrollton, KY 41008. The funeral service will follow the visitation at the same location, beginning at 2:00 PM. Burial will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Carroll County High School Athletic Department or Carroll County Parks and Recreation in care of the funeral home.
Missy will be remembered for her loving spirit, her devotion to her family, and her zest for life. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
