Michael Jerome Abrams, Sr., 74, of Carrollton, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2024, with his family by his side. Born on January 20, 1950, in Rome, Floyd County, Georgia. Michael was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of many.
In his professional life, Michael dedicated many years as an Iron Pourer for the Dayton Walther Factory in Carrollton. His commitment to his work was matched by his service to his country, as he proudly served in the United States Army from 1970-1972. During his military career, he earned several accolades, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal, which reflect his bravery and dedication.
Michael was a proud parishioner of St. John Catholic Church in Carrollton. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was committed to living out his values through service to others.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Anna Gertrude Beck Abrams, to whom he married on August 1, 1970, and their children: Michael Jerome Abrams, II of Owenton, KY, James Matthew Abrams, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL, Johannes Christian Abrams of Carrollton, KY, and Amanda Gaille Walls of Carrollton, KY. Michael also leaves behind his cherished brothers, Ronnie Abrams of Rome, GA, Jackie Abrams of Rome, GA, Bobby Abrams of Rome, GA, David Grooms of Anderson, IN, and Rick Harrison of Spiceland, IN, as well as his loving sisters, Prenciss Diann Goodman of Clermont, IN., Peggy Harrison Findlay of Anderson, IN, Patricia Abrams of Rome, GA, and Frieda Abrams of Rome, GA. His legacy will continue through his twenty-two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Neal Abrams and Sara Bob Stewart Abrams Brooks, and a brother, Johnnie Abrams. He will be fondly remembered for his warmth, kindness, and the love he shared with his family.
As we celebrate the life of Michael Jerome Abrams, Sr., let us honor his memory and the impact he made on all of our lives. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, December 13, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. at the St. John Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. Evening Prayers will be on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 6:40 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. Interment will take place in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Carrollton. Military Honors will be presented by the United States Army and the Carrollton American Legion Post #41.
