Norman L. Beetem, Sr., 76, of Carrollton, KY., died on Thursday, August 30, 2007 in Smithfield, KY.
He was born in Carrollton, Carroll County, KY., on August 12, 1931 the son of the late Richard P. Beetem and Emma Lebus (Taylor) Beetem. Norman was retired from U.P.S. in Louisville, KY as a Supervisor. He also had been previously employed by the Kentucky State Reformatory in LaGrange, KY., and the Kroger Grocery Store in Carrollton, KY. Norman served his Country in the U.S. Army, having been stationed in Germany. After his duty with the U.S. Army he went on to serve with the National Guard for many years. He attended the Port Royal Baptist Church in Port Royal, KY.
Survivors include two daughters; Lisa Jo Connolly of Carrollton, KY., and Nona R. Gambrell of Corbin, KY., one son; Norman L. Beetem, Jr. of Bedford, KY., one sister; Numia Blackwell of Maui, HI., along with nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Betty Lou Beetem on January 19, 2007, a sister; Virgina Smith and a brother; Clyde T. Beetem.
Funeral Services were conducted on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Ball officiated the service.
Following the funeral service Norman's wishes were to be cremated with his cremains to be buried in the Port Royal Cemetery in Port Royal, KY.
