Paul N. Fishback, Jr., 71, of Carrollton, KY, died on Monday, March 13, 2023, at the Gallatin Nursing and Rehab in Warsaw, KY.
He was born on February 23, 1952, in Frankfort, Franklin County, KY, the son of Paul N. Fishback, Sr. and the late Charlsey Walker Fishback. His graduating class was the first in 1970 to graduate in the new Carroll County High School. He served his Country honorably in the United States Marine Corps.
Some of the places Paul had worked in Carrollton included the Carrollton Re-Dryer Factory and as a night watchman at the Golden Burley Warehouse.
Paul was a true old-fashioned farmer his whole life, some say he should have been born a 100 years earlier with his farming and work ethic skills. He was known for helping many farmers in the area, cutting and housing tobacco and at one time had raised a seven-acre garden. Working with all kinds of animals on the farm came natural to him and he loved every minute of it.
Paul spent many days walking the farms along the Little Kentucky River searching for Arrowheads and seemed to know every rock in the county.
Survivors include his father; Paul N. Fishback, Sr. of Carrollton, KY, three sisters; Beverly Fishback Hughes of Carrollton, KY, Valorie Fishback Spencer and her husband, Jim of Louisville, KY, Lisa Fishback McRoy and her husband, David of Louisville, KY, a nephew; Joe Paul Hughes, along with several other close family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother; Charlsey Walker Fishback on August 28, 2011, and a brother in-law; Terry Hughes on December 27, 2021.
At Paul’s request no formal services will be held and if you would like to, you may make a donation to the Carroll County Food Pantry in Paul’s memory, since he loved raising crops that helped provide food for families.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
